Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food merienda sets for P149!

During our first day back to work this 2013, hubby and I were totally swamped in the office. As a result, we had lunch at 2pm already!

Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
We decided to eat at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food since we bought some food for our son's hamster at the pet shop next door. This is actually Yen Yen's new location along P. Guevarra St. in San Juan. They used to be located along Granada St. in Quezon City. Since it was already 2pm we were qualified to avail of Yen Yen's merienda sets which were selling for P149 each. The food items are divided into 3 sets:
  • A - Spicy Wontons, Fried Wontons, Dumpling Soup, Wonton Soup
  • B - Chami, Cha Bihon, Cha Chang Noodles, Kidney Misua, Sotanghon
  • C - Coffee, Green Iced Tea, Butterfly Iced Tea, Pink Lemonade

You choose one item from A, B, and C then pay only P149 for two food items and a drink.

Spicy Wonton at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
For item A, I picked Spicy Wonton. I was expecting it to be as good as Mien San's but alas it wasn't. This was bland in comparison. A bit spicy and a lot bland to be exact.

Cha Bihon at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
My item B was Cha Bihon. Now this was good. In fact, it was so good that my hubby regretted not ordering it, haha! Lots of noodles, veggies, mushrooms, and meat... really great value for money!

Fried Wonton at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
Meanwhile hubby's item A was Fried Wonton. I imagine it's the fried version of what I had minus the chili oil.

Kidney Misua at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
His item B was Kidney Misua, something I would never order in a zillion years due to the fact that animal innards gross me out. The dark, foreboding soup looked as unappetizing as it could be. I have no idea what it tastes like because I refused to have anything to do with it.

Green Iced Tea at Yen Yen Taiwan Street Food
We both ordered the same item C, Green Iced Tea simply because the waitress said it was the most popular choice among all the drinks. Light and refreshing, we were both happy with it.

Although Yen Yen refers to these as merienda sets, they are filling enough to be lunch or dinner. The catch is, they can only be ordered weekdays 2-5pm. Very good value for money though and definitely too heavy to just be a snack unless you are sharing a set with someone. These would be great as either a late lunch or an early dinner.
