Cebu Pacific and VISA have partnered to bring exclusive promos, discounts, and privileges to CebPac customers who choose to pay for flights with their VISA credit, debit, or prepaid card. To kick off this partnership, VISA card holders will have the chance to win 100 free flights to any of Cebu Pacific's domestic and international destinations. Starting October 3 (today) until November 17, 2012 every single transaction for Cebu Pacific flight tickets amounting to at least one peso is equivalent to one raffle entry. All one needs to do is pay via VISA card and you're in! This promo applies only to tickets purchased through the website http://www.cebupacificair.com.
I was there to witness the forging of this partnership yesterday at The Genting Club in Resorts World Manila. Yay for the photo op with the cute CebPac mascot whom I saw for the first time, hehe! :D
A brief program to announce and celebrate Cebu Pacific and VISA's 5-year partnership ensued. It culminated in a shopping challenge for all the media guests.
Okay, so basically we were all given P10,000 shopping credits by VISA and a destination card by Cebu Pacific. We had to buy things related to our destination from the shops at Resorts World... in 30 minutes! Whoever can buy the most relevant things for his/her "trip" would win a Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera.
As luck would have it, the destination I got was Boracay. Whoa. I hate going to the beach. I don't even want to go back to Bora unless I were staying at a posh resort hotel like Shangri-la (see above photo) or Discovery Shores, haha! The problem is, I'm not willing to spend... so yeah, a trip to Boracay anytime soon wasn't going to happen on my watch. But that was my destination card and I had to finish P10,000 shopping for it under a time limit.
Then I had a brilliant idea. One of the shops at Resorts World was Charriol. I have a Charriol cable bracelet which I bought back in the '90s and it's still alive now, as in I'm using it! It did not darken or become dilapidated. It's really worth the money. So I checked the Charriol website and discovered this pair of Charriol Starlite earrings which cost CHF 210 (Swiss Francs). Converted to Philippine pesos, that would be around P9,500. I figured the price at the Charriol boutique shouldn't be too far off. I asked my VISA shopping buddy if I can just pay additional if whatever I'm buying goes over P10k. She said yes. So I was set.
She went to a locked glass case and took them out. They used to hang there at the spot I encircled in the photo before I bought them.
The earrings cost P10,950. The final test that would determine my purchase was if it was heavy. If so, it's a no go because I don't want to wear earrings that would drag my earlobes down. I lifted them up and wow, they were light as a feather. At last! I don't have big dangling earrings because so far everything I've ever come across were all too heavy.
So I told the saleslady I would take it. My VISA shopping buddy whipped out the VISA card and charged the whole P10,950. I just paid her the amount exceeding P10k in cash.
So yay! I got a pair of really nice Charriol Starlite earrings! VISA country manager Iain Jamieson (he's in the third photo in this post with the CebPac mascot) was watching me shop the entire time and jokingly remarked "Who cares about the prize when you can have a nice new pair of earrings right?" -- hahaha! How right he was. Since I was already shopping I figured I might as well buy something that would make me happy. Since I hate going to the beach, buying beach stuff would be a waste of good shopping money. :p
