HSBC Outstanding Principals Awards

If there's one thing I like about HSBC (aside from its great promos like Starbucks and SM GCs in exchange for your charge slips), it's the fact that they are staunch supporters of good education in this country. Last Sept. 12, HSBC awarded five outstanding school principals as a culmination of its 3-year educator training program. These educators have successfully transformed their elementary schools through the HSBC Principals Leaders Enhancement and Development Program. The principals were awarded cash grants by HSBC for their respective schools as well as a modest token for their exemplary performance.

The event was also graced by Margarita Delgado of Sa Aklat Sisikat, HSBC President and CEO Tony Cripps, HSBC Corporate Sustainability Officer Denise Roque, and Lizzie Zobel of Sa Aklat Sisikat.

Sa Aklat Sisikat (SAS) is a non-government organization focused on bridging the education gap via progressive teacher training in cooperation with the Department of Education. SAS was founded by philanthropist Lizzie Zobel.

I hope that through efforts like this, the Philippines' public school system would be able to improve and someday be at par with those of more developed countries'.
