Some time ago I got a sample of 0kuma (pronounced as Zero-kuma) Concealer from the lovely folks at K-Palette Philippines. Kuma is the Japanese word for bear, hence the cute bear character on the packaging.
I swear I can never resist cutely packaged Japanese stuff like this.
The 0kuma Concealer comes in a small tube. There are three variants: Type 1 Moisturizing, Type 2 Brightening, and Type 3 Improves Blood Circulation. The shades also vary slightly so there's a lighter more yellowish shade as well as a darker more orange shade. The one I'm holding above is Type 1 Moisturizing, it's considered as the most universal of the three so if you don't know what to get it's suggested that you grab this.
The concealer is pretty thick in terms of consistency -- and that's usually a good indication of how heavy duty the coverage is. I have really bad undereye circles so light concealers are out of the question.
I saw how Japanese make-up artist Noriko Imura slather on a generous amount of 0kuma Concealer on her model during the K-Palette event and so that was how I did it. After applying, I blended it with my fingers the way Imura-san did. The concealer is a bit sticky due to the thick consistency so I suggest applying eye cream before putting it on. This will help the product go on more smoothly. The concealer also doubles as an eye primer so you can put it onto your eyelids.
So this is the result of using 0kuma Concealer on my dark undereye circles. Indeed it helped cover them up but I'm curious as to how the other two shades (Type 2 and Type 3) would fare.
What I like about 0kuma Concealer:
- You can use it without any additional tools since it dispenses via tube and you can work it with your fingers.
- It's dual purpose since it can also be used as an eye primer.
- It does a nice job of concealing dark undereye circles.
- It's easy to bring around in your bag.
- It's reasonably priced since one tube can last a long time.
Downside? It's quite messy since your fingers do all the work. I actually succeeded in getting concealer all over my brush handles, compact, and other things while I was doing my make-up since I was using my fingers.
