We were actually the only ones there for lunch. The place fills up at night though since it doubles as a bar. They have Happy Hour, music, and DJs by then.
We decided to have the set lunch, since one order costs P1,100+ and serves two people. I think a three-course lunch at a swank place like Sutra for that price is very reasonable! We were served complimentary bread and dip while we were waiting for our order.
We ordered drinks too. I opted for freshly squeezed Orange Juice while hubby got a Melon Shake. The drinks cost P160 each. They're both very refreshing since they're made with real fresh fruits.
Anyhow, the set lunch starts off with either Soup of the Day or Caesar Salad. Each of you can choose to have either one. The featured soup that day was Cream of Asparagus. It was very good! I could actually taste and feel the asparagus bits in my mouth. Yummy!
If you're not up for soup, you can pick the Caesar Salad. You get a small plate that's enough to whet your appetite for the main course. It's also pretty good.
For the main course, there are around four kinds to choose from. I had the Marinated Boneless Chicken in Peanut Sauce. It was served atop some pasta, albeit according to the menu you can have it with either Hawaiian Fried Rice or Mashed Potato. The chicken was tender and flavorful, but I especially loved the sauce on the side.
Hubby had Grilled Dory Fillet in Leek Champignon Sauce. It was served atop some pasta as well. He loved the dish. He said it was light yet tasty, just the way he likes his meals these days.
For dessert, we were each served Apple Tempura. Three apple wedges are battered and deep fried to a crisp then drizzled with caramel sauce. A scoop of vanilla ice scream is served on the side atop a cookie shell and they complement the warm apple wedges perfectly! Delicious!
At P500+ per person, I can say the set lunch at Sutra Restaurant and Bar is money well-spent. The food is good and the service is stellar -- the servers were very attentive to our needs and knowledgeable about the menu items. We also enjoyed the quiet respite the place offered from the noise and heat outside. There's free wifi internet too. If you ever find yourself at Bonifacio High Street Central around lunch time, do give Sutra a try. They even have set lunches for 6 which cost P3,000+ and set lunches for 10 which cost P4,500+ to P5,500+.
