Hubby and I decided to give it a try one lunch break. It's quite near our office so it's very convenient for us. Toki Q is a small, enclosed, and air-conditioned barbecue stand that's ideal for quick meals. There are a few tables and chairs as well as a "bar" type area with stools.
It's called rotating barbecue because they have a special machine that literally takes the sticks around for a spin to cook them. I borrowed the photos above from the Toki Q Facebook Page.
Anyhow, there's a glass case which displays the different kinds of barbecue they sell.
Hubby decided to order Combo 1 which includes unlimited rice, Chicken or Pork Ball, Tontoro Pork (Pork Belly), Chicken Fillet, Chicken Skin for P99. The barbecue sticks are served atop the rice and drizzled with Toki Q's flavorful special sauce.
Add P39 to any Combo and get a bowl of miso soup and a drink (choice of iced tea, soda, or orange juice) for a complete meal.
Meanwhile I decided to try Combo 2 which consists of Chicken Ball, Tontoro Pork, Pork Ball, and Chicken Fillet for P110. I loved the both kinds of balls as they are made of tasty lean meat and cooked perfectly with the right amount of sauce. The Tontoro Pork is delicious too! Just remembering my lunch that day makes me hungry as I type. XD
They also have a Combo wherein you can have all Chicken Wings (6 pcs) with unlimited rice for P150.
We had a couple of side orders starting with Kara-age (P75, pictured above). Seasoned and spiced fried chicken pieces served in a paper container with toothpicks, kind of like the pica-pica you'd find in most milk tea places. Tender and tasty!
Then there was Toki BBQ Corn (P48, pictured above). Hubby and I both love corn so it was pretty automatic that we'd order this. Sweet corn on the cob is roasted and then sprinkled with barbecue flavor. It's slightly spicy but pretty good nonetheless.
Toki Q is perfect for quick meals and snacks if you're in a rush but want to refrain from driving into a fast food joint. Food is natural and real, not processed for convenience. Each individual stick of barbecue costs anywhere from P26 to P35 so I highly recommend ordering combos or group platters. Buying 5 sticks of any kind does entitle you to unlimited rice though.
Here's some more good news... if you like the
Toki Q Facebook Page, you get a freebie when you visit! We're definitely going back! :D
