We were served what seemed like crispy tortilla sticks as we waited for our main dishes. These are complimentary for all customers. Taking photos proved quite challenging because the place is dimly lit.
We had Truffle Fries (P275, pictured above) for starters. I loved how they used real potatoes fried in truffle oil and then seasoned with sea salt. It comes with peppermill dressing on the side too. It's so good especially when you eat it while it's piping hot.
Then came Krave's Texas Steak Roll (P425, pictured above). Inspired by sushi, rice wrapped in seaweed and then fried like tempura is filled with tasty pieces of steak and drizzled with a combination of mayo and tonkatsu sauce. Pretty good, plus it's good for sharing as each piece fills you up rather quickly.
For the main course, I had Baked Wild Salmon with Jalapeno Macadamia Cream (P685, pictured above). It comes with mango salsa and cilantro lime rice. I loved the uniquely flavored cream that topped the salmon. The dish was kind of big for me though so I gave some to my hubby.
Hubby ordered Ratatouille Shrimp Pasta (P395, pictured above). It was surprisingly spicy and rather ordinary, but at least it wasn't greasy which is how he likes his pasta.
We also had Ilocos Bagnet Pizza (P395, pictured above). It's so sinful that it'll probably add an inch or two to your waistline instantly if you have one whole serving to yourself. A thin slice of bagnet (crispy pork) and a tiny roll of scrambled egg top a crisp, thin pizza crust. Yummy, but I just had one slice to try.
The highlight of the night was Krave's Angus Pinwheel Steak (P1695, pictured above). A 25-oz. USDA Prime Rib-Eye is cooked in front of you using a kitchen blowtorch to light the meat on fire.
After the fire dies out, it means that the slab is cooked and ready to serve. Since we were all sharing they sliced the steak for us. It's served with baked sweet potatoes and three kinds of sauces -- Peppermint Cream Sauce, Red Wine Gravy, and Steak Oil.
The meat was quite rare. It looks pink in the photo but some parts were actually red and oozing with blood. I would've liked it more well done. It was quite good though.
For dessert, we had Caviar and Fresh Fruit Panna Cotta (P195, pictured above). I love panna cotta and this was no exception. Milky and creamy, it was the perfect way to end our hearty meal.
My only complaint that night was the service. It was excruciatingly slow. The restaurant wasn't even full but it took give or take an hour for the main dishes to materialize. I hope they improve their serving time in the future.
Krave is on the pricey side but the food is good. It's a nice date place since it's quiet, dim, and intimate but parking can be a nightmare. We had to double park right outside the street because there are no parking lots nearby and a lot of people with cars want to have a nightcap around the area.
