Samsung Galaxy Y at P5,990!

Samsung officially launched its most affordable Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Y, last October 25, 2011.

Samsung Galaxy Y Youth Level AppIt was a very unique event. Students from different colleges (Ateneo, UP, La Salle, and San Beda) were called in to participate in a Family Feud-type game which had survey questions and answers from 100 college students hailing from different campuses all over Metro Manila.

Anyhow, during the course of the game I found out that the most popular career choice for those 100 students is celebrity or artista and that Twilight is the third most influential movie for them. Ugh. Can't our youth do better than that? Everyone seems to think that becoming a celebrity is the answer to all their problems. But enough about that. I'm here to talk about the Samsung Galaxy Y.

Samsung Galaxy Y YoungThe Samsung Galaxy Y's appearance is like a cross between a Samsung Corby and a Samsung Galaxy S/S2. Some key features are:
  • 832 MHz processor
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • built-in 2MP camera + video recording
  • 150MB internal memory
  • full touch screen operation
Samsung Galaxy Y YoungWhat's even more unbelievable is the price. The Samsung Galaxy Y retails for a mere P5,990. At that price you can already have full internet capability and gain access to the Android Marketplace which has over 300,000 apps for you to choose from. It's all one download away.

If you're looking to venture into the fun and colorful world of Android, the Samsung Galaxy Y is a great entry-level phone to try it out with. :)
