HSBC Fun Run 2011 for Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation

How ironic that I've always loved reading while I've always hated running. When I was a little girl reading was what kept me occupied 80% of the time. I read everything in my grandmother's study -- volumes and volumes of encyclopedias, Childcraft books, and even my uncles' old Hardy Boys novels. In the meantime I'd buy Nancy Drew hardbound books from National Bookstore using money I had saved from my school allowance. I remember each book costing P27.50... I guess these days you can't even buy a paperback at that price. Running is just about the type of exercise I hate the most. Running makes me run out of breath and causes my side to hurt. I'd rather ride a bicycle, spend hours on a stair climber, or engage in any other physical activity. Just please don't ask me to run. O_O

HSBC Fun Run 2011So how does all that relate to the HSBC Fun Run 2011? Well, first of all, the race proceeds will be donated to the Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation (SAS). SAS is a non-profit organization which aims to foster a nation of readers. I'm all for that because I feel that these days, children are reading less and less with all the distractions readily available to them. A lot of what I know and what I can do now can be attributed to my being a voracious reader. Reading is a habit I'd like my own children to pick up and so I'm all for the HSBC Fun Run 2011.
