Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Holiday Collection 2011

I spent last Friday night at Opus in Resorts World. People who know me know that I hate going out on a Friday night because of the insane traffic. RW is far from where I live to boot. But this is Shu Uemura, my most favorite beauty brand of all time... so how could I say no, right? :D

Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Holiday Collection Launch at Opus in Resorts WorldOpus was transformed into a make-up atelier for Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai. Wong Kar Wai is a renowned film maker from Hong Kong who's collaborating with Shu Uemura for a limited edition make-up collection this holiday season.

Cocktails in Opus
We had wine and canapes while waiting for the main program.

Shu Uemura premium edition Dance in Glitter false eyelashesI took the opportunity to go over the make-up table and check out the goods. These premium edition Dance in Glitter false eyelashes are absolutely to die for!

Shu Uemura premium edition Dance in Glitter false eyelashesI can't imagine cutting these (a standard procedure) to fit my eyelid though as a pair costs a few thousand pesos. XD

Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Burning in Water eye and cheek palette
Above is the Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Burning in Water eye and cheek palette. I got one and I'm soooo excited to try it out as I've always had a penchant for blue eye make-up. The coolness!

Make-up artist John Pagaduan for Shu Uemura x Wong Kar WaiThere was a special make-up preview featuring Shu Uemura make-up artists John Pagaduan and Patrick Escober's interpretations of the WKW palettes. Above is John Pagaduan's take on the Burning in Water palette. Glittery blue and silver -- two of my favorite make-up colors! The resulting look was surprisingly fierce.

Above is the Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Drowning in Flame eye and cheek palette. Notice how much warmer the colors are.

Make-up artist Patrick Escober for Shu Uemura x Wong Kar WaiPatrick worked with the Drowning in Flame palette which was comprised mainly of purple and gold hues. The soft, clean, and innocent look that he came up with was certainly unexpected. Usually you'd expect water to be soft and serene, fire to be ferocious and fierce but these artists did the opposite. :)

Joey Mead hosted the main program.

We were all transfixed as the short film Mask by Wong Kar Wai was projected onto the walls of Opus for our viewing pleasure. Mask showcases the entire holiday collection, including the nail polish! I'm so excited to play around with these colors.

After the film, more Shu Uemura x WKW interpretations were revealed. This time, palettes were mixed and the entire range was utilized. :)

It's really amazing how versatile the WKW for Shu Uemura Holiday Collection is. I can't wait to try the Burning in Water palette for myself!

Limited edition WKW for Shu Uemura collection 2011Catch the limited edition WKW for Shu Uemura collection this holiday season! It even has something sparkly for your nails. Personally I think I'll purchase a Glittery Mascara so I can get sparkly lashes without the upkeep of falsies, hehe. :D
