Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router review + giveaway! Answer and win!

I got a Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless-N Router for review a few weeks ago. I've used several brands in the past which includes an older Linksys model (circa 2007), D-Link, and TP-Link. They were all similar in the sense that you just plugged them in and they did the job of connecting several gadgets to the internet all at the same time. That was it.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewThe Cisco Linksys E1000's box alone was impressive already. It certainly looked a lot bigger than the current router we were using which was TP-Link.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewThe router's design is very modern and streamlined. It struck me as very state-of-the-art and actually reminded me of a spaceship somehow.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewThe package includes the Linksys E1000 wireless router, an installer CD, a quick installation guide, an ethernet network cable, and an Energy Star power adapter.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewI plugged it in right away of course. Gotta love those blue lights! It looks even more like a spaceship now.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewCompared to my old router, the Linksys E1000 is definitely the hands down winner in the looks department. The design is just so snazzy.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewPlugging it in and powering up is just the first step. You'll need to install it properly in order to be able to take full advantage of all the features. Since none of us here at home have a CD-ROM drive, I proceeded to Cisco's Linksys Support site to download the setup software that was needed to install the router properly.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewI was good to go in no time. I was surprised because right after I installed the router, it already had a pre-programmed router name and password to protect my connection from unauthorized users. It also has a separate guest access point that is also password-protected so you don't have to give out your main password to everyone who comes along. You can also set the number of guests that can access your connection simultaneously.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewI was surprised to see a dedicated panel for parental controls. You can instruct the router to block and filter internet access for specific gadgets. Both of our children possess gadgets which can be used to surf the net (i.e. Playstation Portable, iPod Touch, Nintendo DSi) and so theoretically they can log in any time since they know the password. With the Linksys E1000, I can for example block or limit internet access during school nights for the PSP, iPod, and DS.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewI can not only control the time they spend online, I can block specific sites from being accessed as well. All I have to do is type the urls and then save.

Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless Router ReviewAnother cool feature is the built-in speed test. The Linksys E1000 lets you monitor your download and upload speed with a single click.

The Linksys E1000 is very smart too. Our DSL connection really sucks because it gets cut off from time to time. I always had to "command" my old router to reconnect. Linksys E1000 does so automatically! Whenever connection gets cut, it quickly gets to work reconnecting and so my life has become a lot more convenient. I really love love love this gadget. <3

The Linksys E1000 Wireless Router is available at Asianic, Complink, E-Hub, Gigahertz, Electroworld, Micro Valley, Octagon Computer Superstores, PC Express, PC Options, PC Worx, Silicon Valley, TCA, Villman Computers for around P3,000.

Anyhow... here's the part we've all been waiting for... the giveaway!

You can only answer the survey once. If you've already answered the survey at another blog it won't count here anymore.
