Now all Anlene events have free bone scans for guests. Getting a bone scan in a hospital is quite costly and so I always take the opportunity to have it done for free. Lo and behold... my results showed that I was at medium risk. I was flabbergasted to say the least. You can actually avail of a free bone scan too since Anlene Bone Health Check will be making rounds all over the country giving free bone scans to everyone who would like to undergo one.
Back in January during the last Anlene event, my results showed that I was at low risk for Osteoporosis. Not even a year has passed and I've gone up to medium risk. The only thing that changed from my lifestyle was my caffeine consumption. Last year I was drinking coffee just once a week. This year I was drinking every single day. And then there's the Taiwan-style milk tea addiction. My hubby and I have had more milk tea than I can count this year. I don't want to graduate to high risk and so I've cut down on both coffee and tea. I no longer drink coffee at home and I don't buy milk tea anymore. Less than a year of caffeine splurging and my bone health was reduced to this! T_T
The round table discussion commenced after lunch. Annie Robinson, senior nutritionist at Fonterra New Zealand, was there to answer any questions we may have regarding bone health, osteoporosis, and nutrition. Osteoporosis occurs when the bone mass decreases before the body can replace it... and so basically you'll have brittle bones that break easily at the slightest provocation. You can trip and fall, break something, then never walk again. It's that bad. Okay, so I just had to ask if my risk factor was reversible... if I could somehow go back to being low risk like I was before. The bad news is, it's not reversible. I'm at medium risk for the rest of my life and all I can do is prevent my risk factor from going higher by getting ample calcium and vitamin D to keep my bones healthy. This is where Anlene comes into play. Anlene is enriched with both calcium and vitamin D to keep your bones healthy and strong. It's low in fat too, which is good news for me!
So this is now officially my breakfast drink every morning in place of coffee (plug: photo taken with Retro Cam via my Samsung Galaxy S2). I like Anlene Concentrate because it's ready to drink and I can down one complete serving in about a minute. It's available in vanilla and chocolate. Vanilla tastes like ice cream, I swear. I prefer chocolate though since it's less sweet. But it's all good, I just have whatever flavor is in the fridge. It costs P120+ per pack of four.
