50 Feasts Food Photography School Room + my new cam!

So yeah, I finally took the plunge and ordered a Sony NEX-5N from the US. It's US$699 there whereas the SRP is P44,000 here in the Philippines. Blame it on the Sony NEX-5K which I toted around the US last summer. I was so happy with it I began to see the shortcomings of my cute pink Sony Cybershot TX-1 (which I still love).

Sony Nex-5N Digital CameraI got the Sony NEX-5N in black. I also decided that I didn't want to keep relying on the automatic settings. I want to actually be able to operate it manually. Since I don't really have the time to fiddle around and experiment I'm taking a shortcut by enrolling in a Basic Photography class at 50 Feasts Food Photography School Room. I'm really all for self-improvement that way. :p

50 Feasts Food Photography School RoomApart from teaching basic photography, 50 Feasts specializes in food photography. I admit that I don't know anything about aperture (I don't even know what it is), exposure, white balance, etc. I just point my trusty little cam at the target and shoot. I sort of regret not taking up Basic Photography in college as a free elective now.

50 Feasts Food Photography School RoomAt the moment they offer three photography classes: Basic Photography, Basic Food Photography, and Masterclass Food Photography. You can't take the Food Photography classes without a firm grasp at the basics. Since I don't have any formal training whatsoever I'm starting with Basic Photography. The first class starts on October 15, 2011. I'll be taking a later sked because I'm not really sure when my camera will arrive in the Philippines.

50 Feasts Food Photography School RoomWhat better skill to complement food photography than food styling? 50 Feasts offers that as a class too. You can check the complete schedule of classes and rates here - http://www.50feasts.com/core-classes/food-photography/. They have discount schemes you can avail of as well. Their studio is located in San Juan City.

Would you like to improve your photography or specifically food photography skills? Check out http://www.50feasts.com. Photography classes will be facilitated by talented photographer Mylene Chung. I first heard of her from my friend and fellow blogger Marj Sia. Mylene did the before and after shots of the participants in Marj's make-up workshop. She also does photography for Yummy Magazine, Reader's Digest, etc. Meanwhile, the food styling class will be facilitated by food artist Katherine Jao who also contributes to Yummy Magazine.
