My neighbor Mrs. Martinez has forever been raving about this BB cream. At that time, Kanebo was offering 20% off on everything. Unfortunately, it was out of stock! The retail price is P960... had I gotten it during the sale I would've shaved off almost P200! Alas, I had to place a special order from the distributor so I was unable to avail of the sale price. This product costs 1600 yen + tax (about P800 + tax) when purchased in Japan so it's pretty okay price-wise.
Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV is available in only two shades: Natural Beige and Medium Beige. I got Natural Beige since it's the lighter shade which seemed to match the skin on my face more.
Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV comes in this cute silver and white tube. Each tube contains 50g of product, so you're paying for something like P19.20 per gram (compare with Maybelline's P13.83 per gram)... and each tube will definitely give you more than 50 applications... so it's a lot less than P20 per use. :p
The BB cream is, at the risk of sounding redundant, creamy in terms of consistency. I can tell from the initial squirt that it gives a lot of coverage.
The down side is if your complexion is on the darker side, this probably will make your face too light-colored for the rest of your body. It's also trickier to apply since it dries quickly.
I tried it on first thing in the morning before leaving the house. My face becomes at least a shade lighter immediately after application. I think it needs a bit of time to "settle" into the skin and become less noticeable. I think I'll try applying it with a stippling brush next time. The photos above were taken at around 8:30 am. Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV has SPF 41 and PA++ so you don't need a separate facial sunscreen.
This is me in the car 3 hours after application, around 11:30am. I blotted my face with a facial tissue prior to taking the photo because although Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV has a more matte and powdery-looking finish compared to Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream's dewier finish, it's still not an oil-control product.
And this is me again at 6pm, over 9 hours after I applied Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV. I actually like the way it looks better hours after application because my facial oils kind of counteract the powdery finish to make it look as if I don't have anything on my face. I actually went straight to a dinner / dice game after this photo was taken. The BB cream definitely worked overtime, hehe. :DSince this is officially my second BB cream review (I think my third will be a Korean brand), let's ask the inevitable question... why use BB cream?
- You want to even out your skin tone without using make-up.
- You want light coverage but don't like the heavier feeling of foundation.
- You want a short-cut -- moisturize, brighten, and protect from the sun in one step.
- You want to lighten your face... that is the immediate effect of BB cream.
Kanebo Freshel White C Mineral BB Cream UV is available at Kanebo counters in SM Department Stores.
Here's a tip: If you get oily midway, blot first with facial tissue or oil-blotting paper before you put on powder. It's important to get rid of the oil first before piling on the powder because trying to powder the oil away will just make your skin look muddy. This is one of the things I picked up from make-up school. :)
