Future First is HSBC's advocacy program which was launched in the Philippines back in 2007. It aims to help street children, children in care, and orphans by providing education, healthcare, counselling, and shelter. Future First has reached 35,000 Filipino children since.
Future First has provided support to local NGOs (Non-Government Organizations), such as SOS Children's Villages, The Philippine Christian Foundation, HOPE Worldwide Philippines, Young Focus for Educational Research and Development Assistance Foundation, SALINLAHI Alliance for Children's Concerns, and Educational Research and Development Assistance Foundation (ERDA).
Last August 17, HSBC awarded three NGOs over P4 million through Future First:
- SOS Children's Village Lipa - US$50,000
- SOS Children's Village Manila - US$ 22,668
- Childhope Asia Philippines - US$26,008
The money will be used to fund these NGOs' various educational and environmental projects that will help improve the lives of street children.
I think it's great that big companies are trying to give back to society. The least I can do is spread the word. :)
