Krispy Kreme Green Lantern Doughnuts!

I have very low tolerance for sweets, which is why I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not fond of Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed Doughnuts. I mean, I love how soft and chewy KK doughnuts are but the glaze is really just too much. Whenever I eat one I don't want to see another for at least three months.

So anyway, I was invited to a private screening of Green Lantern at Greenbelt MyCinema last June 21, 2011. It was part of the effort to launch The Green Lantern Kreme Doughnut by Krispy Kreme. That dollop of bright green ectoplasm-like jelly in the middle certainly makes it look interesting. Green rings and well, Green Lantern comes to mind.

I was iffy at first because I was expecting the Green Lantern Doughnut to be overly sweet. But upon the prodding of my fellow bloggers I gave in and tried one. It's surprisingly cake-like in terms of texture and topped with a thin but solid coat of Hershey's milk chocolate. There's a nifty chunk of Hershey's chocolate in the middle underneath the green jelly too. Oh yes, Krispy Kreme Green Lantern Doughnuts are chocolatey, not too sweet, and definitely yummy!

These babies come in a Krispy Kreme box with a cool Green Lantern label too. The Green Lantern Kreme Doughnut costs P44 a piece, which is really comparable to getting a slice of cake for dessert at your favorite coffee shop. In fact most cake slices go for P75 and up.

If you remove the label from the box, you'll find a cut-out Green Lantern mask too!

The Green Lantern Kreme Doughnut is a limited edition doughnut available at Krispy Kreme stores until July 10, 2011. Grab one before they're gone! :D
