The treatment was called Atlantic Sea Moist Paraffin Pedicure (P890). It started with me dipping my feet in a washbasin filled with warm soapy water.
After the cleansing dip, my feet were scrubbed and massaged by the therapist. This is to exfoliate the dead skin cells and promote circulation.
Then she trimmed my nails and cuticles. I told her I didn't want anything extreme. I'm not really so much into nail stuff so I skipped the polish altogether.
Then came a tub full of really hot paraffin. It's scooped all over your feet and exposed leg area. I was wearing skinny jeans that they so they couldn't cover the area below my knee. The scent of apples filled the air. I didn't know they used scented paraffin, I sort of expected something like the plain wax off a melted candle.
Now I'm freaked. My feet look like something from a horror movie involving pouring hot wax all over the victims. The heat is actually soothing though, perfect if your feet are tired or sore from lots of walking or uncomfortable shoes.
Anyways, after your feet are fully covered in paraffin it's wrapped in plastic to seal it all in.
Towels are also draped over the plastic. It's sort of like incubating your paraffin-coated feet. You just let it be for several minutes.
After time's up, everything is removed. You can literally peel off the paraffin like a mask. Amazingly, it doesn't break apart.
This is all the paraffin that was peeled off just one foot. It's kind of supple and stretchy, not at all like candle wax.
This is the end result of the Atlantic Sea Moist Paraffin Pedicure. I liked how they trimmed my nails and cuticles very neatly without doing anything extreme. My feet also felt baby soft and smooth afterwards.Nail-a-holics Salon and Spa
