Bubble Tea Boy at Promenade, Greenhills

*This establishment is now CLOSED.*

Bubble Tea Boy is a newly opened milk tea stall at the Promenade in Greenhills. It's owned by the folks behind Coco Asian Kitchen. In fact, the stall in itself is an extension of Coco Asian Kitchen's.

Bubble Tea Boy at the Promenade in GreenhillsI love milk and I love tea. Yes, I am addicted to milk tea. Here in the Philippines my favorite is Serenitea. In Taiwan, I like Share Tea. When the owners offered to let us have a free serving of Bubble Tea Boy milk tea I was quite excited. :D

Kyoto Milk Tea at Bubble Tea BoyI picked the Kyoto Milk Tea (P80, pictured above). It's supposed to be Royal Milk Tea in terms of flavor and brew. You add P5 for pearls. All the milk tea variants cost P80 and they come in just one size. In terms of sweetness, you can opt for either regular or lite. I chose lite since I usually have zero sugar at Serenitea. The color of my tea in the photo above is reddish because of the reddish cast of Coco Asian Kitchen's lighted signage.

Animetric's Kyoto Milk TeaThis is how the Kyoto Milk Tea really is in terms of color and size. Taste-wise, it's rich and it really does taste like the Royal Milk Tea I've had in Japan. It's too sweet though -- and I picked the lite version. It was kind of hard for me to drink because the sweetness would stick to my throat. The pearls are small, dry, and tough. There's a miniscule amount of it in the drink too (you can actually see in the photo), I could actually count how many with just my fingers.

Bubble Tea Boy's milk tea costs less than my favorite variant at Serenitea which is now a whopping P105 per large serving. However, if the sweetness and quality + amount of pearls here don't improve I don't think I'll be coming back any time soon.
