MoMo at Eastwood Mall

We had a nice pre-movie snack at MoMo some weekends ago. We got there a little after 10am so there weren't too many people yet.

Country Spread at Momo Eastwood MallWe were served some complimentary toasted bread with a unique spread which the server referred to simply as "Crunchy Spread". I couldn't believe my ears and I asked her to repeat to which she insisted on "Crunchy Spread". Anyways my friend and fellow blogger Frannywanny, a MoMo suki (regular patron), told me it's actually "Country Spread". It was placed in a small ceramic pot with a popsicle stick for spreading.

Complimentary bread at Momo Eastwood MallIt turned out to be a mixture of soft cheese bits, herbs, pimiento, and a bit of oil which you flatten with the popsicle stick onto the bread surface. Nothing crunchy about the spread, but it was good nonetheless. The kids wolfed it all down in no time. :)

Sweet & Smoky Hickory BBQ Rib-lets at Momo Eastwood MallSweet & Smoky Hickory BBQ Rib-lets at Momo Eastwood MallOn the server's recommendation we ordered Sweet & Smoky Hickory BBQ Rib-lets (P450, both photos above). She told us it's their biggest dish and is good for sharing. Hickory smoked tender and fall-off-the-bone pork was served on top of party rice and mixed vegetables. Corn on the cob and onion rings further accentuated the dish. Delicious, albeit if say a man were really hungry I think he can finish one order off by himself.

Melted 4 Cheese and Roasted Mushrooms Pizza at Momo Eastwood MallWe also had Melted 4 Cheese and Roasted Mushrooms Pizza (P395, pictured above). Sliced shiitake mushrooms lay on a bed of mozzarella, gorgonzola, cheddar, and white cheese. The crust was very thin and crisp. The pizza had a fresh and light taste, not at all nakakaumay (tiring to the palate) despite having four cheeses. You just know they used very good quality ingredients.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake at Momo Eastwood MallFor dessert we had Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake (P260, pictured above). I was shocked at the price but consoled myself with the fact that the slice is pretty big. It was very creamy and yet firm at the same time -- a big hit with my hubby and son. My daughter loved the chocolate chip cookie crust. I would've preferred to have tasted more of the cookie dough.

Free Chocnut after meals at Momo Eastwood MallAfter we settled our bill, our change came back with some free Chocnut! It was a nice surpise. There were actually six pieces but my son ate one immediately. :D

My hubby is a Chinese food nazi, so when he commented that he liked the natural taste of the food at MoMo it's actually a HUGE compliment. I agree, the food at MoMo is very flavorful without coming across as MSG-ridden. You can taste and smell the different spices and ingredients they use. No icky feelings after the meal. :)

Neutrogena Fine Fairness line now in the Philippines!

Neutrogena launched its complete Fine Fairness skincare line during a press luncheon held last June 23, 2010.

Dr. Lorna Frez of the Philippine Dermatological SocietyKicking off the event was a talk by Dr. Lorna Frez of the Philippine Dermatological Society. She explained all about skin color. Basically, the more melanin (melanin is a protective pigment which absorbs harmful UV rays) your skin has and produces, the darker your skin tone is. Asians have more eumelanin (a type of melanin) compared to caucasians, hence we also tend to have darker skin.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness skincare line unveiledNeutrogena unveiled its Fine Fairness skincare line which is comprised of four products.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness productsNeutrogena's Fine Fairness skincare line consists of a cleanser, toner, lotion with SPF 30, and night cream. It is recommended that one uses all the products together for best results.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness products are unique because they use a combination of natural ingredients to help women achieve fair skin. By fair, Neutrogena does not only mean light in color. The fairness Neutrogena advocates is clear, translucent, and light-colored skin. Essential Soy, Stabilized Vitamin C, Vitamin B3, and Portulaca Extract all work together to even out skin tone, protect skin from the sun, and renew the cells.

"Fair, radiant skin is achieved through Neutrogena's eight-dimensional approach to fine fairness -- Protect, Shield, Lighten, Renew, Block, Calm, Prevent, and Restore," explains Neutrogena brand manager Gabby Roxas.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30The products were passed around for guests to sample and experience on-the-spot. Given my penchant for sunscreens and similar products, I immediately reached for the Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30.

A drop of Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30The lotion had a very light and almost water-like texture, albeit it is still slightly thicker than L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40. It absorbs easily when rubbed on the skin. It's about 1/4 of L'Occitane's price though so I think this is a very good alternative to the former. :p

Neutrogena Fine Fairness CreamSince I could not really try out the cleanser and toner, I got the jar of Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cream next.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness CreamThe cream is rich and light at the same time -- I didn't really think that was possible. It also absorbs quickly so I can pretty much imagine how nice it'd feel nice on my face at night.

We were told that we'd need to use the products as a complete skincare regimen for at least 8 weeks for visible results. I intend to give it a run starting July so I can better monitor the effects. I'll be sure to post about my experience. :D

Neutrogena Fine Fairness products are available exclusively at SM Department Stores and Watson's.
  • Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cleanser P297.00
  • Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner P458.25
  • Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30 P720.00
  • Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cream P774.00

All butter all the time at Butter Diner!

One rainy Saturday morning, hubby and I found ourselves stranded in the Cubao area. We hadn't had breakfast yet and the only place open was Butter Diner, a 24/7 establishment in Cubao with walls covered in comic strips.

Bread toasted at Butter DinerIt was rather quaint and reminiscent of America in the 1950's. There are also photos of Elvis and other icons on the walls. What I didn't like was the fact that it was such a dimly lit and gloomy place. Brighter lights would do wonders, I swear. Booths beside the walls have that old-fashioned toaster you see above so you can toast your own bread.

Flavored Butter and Bread at Butter DinerButter Diner gets its name from the fact that they have a total of ten flavored butters which you can order from the menu. That being the case, I just had to order Flavored Butter and Bread (P85, pictured above). It's pricey considering it's only three pieces of bread sliced into triangle halves. You get to pick three flavors of butter to go with it. I chose Cinnamon Raisin, BBQ Party, and Butter Diner's Famous Strawberry Butter.

Butter Diner's Famous Strawberry ButterI asked the server what their bestselling butter is. She told me it's their Famous Strawberry Butter. I'd have to agree -- it's so good! If I weren't grossly overweight I would've easily eaten it like a scoop of ice cream. All their butters are very creamy and flavorful but of the three I had, this was the best. BBQ Party was the worst. It tasted like butter mixed with barbecue sauce, the problem being the flavors did not really blend together. Cinnamon Raisin was lovely too.

Sausages and Cheese Omelette at Butter DinerHubby and I each had the Sausage and Cheese Omelette (P99, pictured above) as well. It was just okay. A small scoop of their plain butter was served on the side. I tasted it and it was anything but plain, it's sweet and creamy and definitely spreadworthy. The thing is, you have to order bread for the omelette separately. :p

Coors Light at Butter DinerAnother thing I wondered about was why everyone who was having breakfast that day had Coors Light on their tables. Well, for starters Butter Diner serves only tap water as their house water. Secondly, Coors Light is the CHEAPEST drink on the menu at P39. Hubby and I ended up sharing one bottle just to tide us over since we weren't willing to spring double that price for something else. We were just passing through and in a rush to leave to boot.

For the record, I do not advocate having beer for breakfast. :p

Anyhow, if you like butter, it'd be an interesting experience for you to check out Butter Diner's selection. Here are the flavors:
  • Famous Strawberry
  • Orange Valenciana
  • Mango Tango
  • Ham and Cheese
  • Crispy Garlic
  • Cinnamon Raisin
  • Crazy Chocolate Chip
  • Blueberry Delight
  • BBQ Party
  • Smokin' Bacon
Even if I thought the omelette was only so-so and the ambiance left something else to be desired, I'm still curious about the other butter flavors that I didn't get to try. I wonder if they'd sell them for take-out? :p

BUM Equipment's Collar-Ups Collection

When I went to Discovery Suites last June 22, 2010 and saw the BUM Equipment sign outside the event hall, I half-expected to see the usual bright-colored t-shirts with BUM printed on the chest area. The type of tops I had been seeing in SM Department Stores during my college days. Yes, BUM has been around a long time since it's been well more than a decade since I got my degree.

BUM Equipment's Gothic CollectionSurprise, surprise. I was first greeted by a predominantly black collection which bordered on gothic.

BUM Equipment Collar-Ups Collection...and then by their latest Collar-Ups Collection, collared shirts wherein the collars are worn up instead of down flat by your shoulder blades. Collar-Ups have actually been around for a while, specifically since the advent of the tennis shirt. Collars were meant to be worn up to help protect the neck area from sunburn. These days though, upturned collars are more of a fashion statement rather than a safety feature.

BUM Equipment Fashion ShowI consider these new collections a rebirth for BUM. Lean and lithe models strutted their stuff on the catwalk. The styles reminded me a bit of Japanese street fashion. Some of the outfits look like what my Pinky St. dolls would wear (Pinky St. are tiny Japanese collectible dolls which can change hairstyles and outfits).

BUM Equipment Fashion ShowApparently, teens and college kids make up the main target market of BUM. These clothes are designed to be wearable to school from day to day.

Collar-Up with BUM EquipmentThere are more general-looking pieces in the collection though, which I think would be suitable for people in their 20's and 30's. These new tops retail for about P500+ each.

What do you think of BUM's new collections? BUM is available in leading department stores nationwide.

O'sonho Portuguese Fusion Restobar in Eastwood Mall

I was among the group of bloggers invited to dine at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion Restobar in Eastwood Mall last June 21, 2010.

Chorizo Sisig at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarPerusing the menu at O'sonho (pronounced as "Osonyo", according to the owner Anton Nik Brancik) reveals a lot of similarities with Spanish cuisine. It has always been Anton's dream to open a Portuguese restaurant. He told us that Portuguese food is generally more spicy than Spanish food due to their extensive use of peri-peri (a type of African chili pepper). We started our dinner with Chouriço Sisig (P210, pictured above). It's pork sisig with chouriço (Portuguese spicy cured sausage) bits, lots of chicharon (crispy pork rind) flakes and red chili peppers on top. Pretty good, albeit I'm not such a big sisig fan I was able to enjoy this dish.

Picado at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarWe also had Picado (P300, pictured above) for appetizers. If you're familiar with Salpicao, think of this as the spicy Portuguese version. Strips of lean beef are cooked in garlic, red wine, herbs, and spices... plus lots of chili peppers. Although it was generally okay, I found it kind of small for a P300 dish.

Strawberry Banana Milk Smoothie at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarI ordered a tall glass of Strawberry Banana Milk Smoothie (P130, pictured above) for my drink. It was delicious, I could clearly taste the strawberries and bananas plus there's no hint of ice cream! I hate drinks with ice cream as I find them overly sweet and sore-throat inducing. O'sonho's smoothie is just perfect. Needless to say I finished it right away due to the spicy nature of the dishes.

Cerveza Battered Fish and Chips at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarCerveza Battered Fish and Chips (P260, pictured above) is another great appetizer. The fish is tender and I found the malt-y batter nice to chew on.

Coffee Marinated Roast Pork at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarOne of the more interesting dishes of the night was the Coffee Marinated Roast Pork (P420, pictured above). Juicy and tender roast pork is basted in an aromatic coffee marinade and drizzled with a coffee-based sauce. It's served with whipped potatoes mixed with squash for a unique flavor experience. It's delicious, provided they don't overcook it. :D

Another big hit with the group was the Whole Roast Peri-Peri Chicken (P720, pictured above). The chicken is marinated in O'sonho's very own peri-peri concoction, so it's actually very flavorful on its own. If you want an extra kick however, you can dip it in the peri-peri sauce served with it. I have a pretty high tolerance for spicy food so I pretty much put the sauce all over my chicken. Very tasty! :D

Tres Leches at O'sonho Portuguese Fusion RestobarWe were served three desserts that night, but I liked Tres Leches (P220, pictured above) best. Tres Leches literally means "Three Milks". Traditionally, you make Tres Leches by soaking a light sponge cake in three types of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. I don't know if O'sonho makes it that way but whichever the case, this is one lovely dessert. :)

Since O'sonho is a restobar, it has a separate menu for drinks which includes an extensive selection of cocktails. My hubby actually had a glass of Cosmo which he described as a drink that tastes like cough syrup. I'll stick to the non-alcoholic fare thank you.

L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40 PA+++

People who know me know that the sun is my enemy. My closet has a seemingly neverending supply of sunblock. I have it in lotion, spray, and even powder in the form of my Neutrogena Fine Fairness pressed powder. One of my morning rituals include slathering on sun protection on my face and exposed body parts like my arms and neck. I'd wear a jacket to the beach if it weren't so hot. No, scratch that, I'd skip the beach altogether if it were up to me.

L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF 40I thought I had already discovered the perfect daytime facial moisturizer and sunscreen during the time I was using Clinique Superdefense SPF25. When it ran out, I had a bottle of L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40 waiting to be opened so I decided not to buy another container of Clinique just yet.

L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40 has a very thin, almost water-like texture. You need only a couple of squirts the size of what I have on my finger above to cover your whole face. I've been using the 1 fl. oz bottle daily for a couple of months now and it's not even halfway done. Like Clinique Superdefense SPF25, L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40 has anti-aging properties. Perfect for a middle-aged (sigh) mom like me.

L'Occitane Very Precious Fluid on AnimetricI love the fact that this product is extremely light and goes on matte. I have combination skin which gets oily on the T-Zone so it's even better for me compared to the more moist and dewy Clinique Superdefense SPF25. The photo above (pardon the look as I had just woken up, washed my face, and applied Very Precious Fluid when I took the shot) illustrates just how matte it is. It's like you haven't applied anything at all and the fresh, just-washed feeling of your face is actually retained after you put it on. This is now officially my favorite facial sunscreen.

L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Fluid SPF40 is available for P2,750 at L'Occitane counters in Rustan's Department Stores and the L'Occitane shop at the Power Plant Mall.

Big Better Burgers at SM Cubao!

I was among those invited to sample Big Better Burgers' delicious beefy offerings last June 16, 2010.

Big Better Burgers owner Eric Teotico welcomed us, eventually sharing his determination and passion in creating the perfect burger. A whole lot of experimentation and taste tests were conducted before they were able to come up with their line of Ultimate Premium Burgers, but wow, is it ever worth it! :D

Big Better Burgers SM CubaoTo start us off, Wedges (P55, pictured above) were served. These yummy seasoned and crispy fried potato wedges are served with ketchup by default, but you can choose to order specialty dips like Dill Onion Mayo (pictured above), Quezoloco (pictured above), and Salsa for an additional P20 each. Personally, I love the Dill Onion Mayo. It doesn't taste like bottled sandwich spread, it doesn't even taste like mayonnaise. It's just so so so good. I can't get over it.

Big Better Burgers SM CubaoWe also got to try the Skin On Fries (P50, pictured above). It's a great siding to any burger I must say.

Big Better Burgers SM CubaoBig Better Burgers' patties are made of 1/3 lbs. of pure beef. They are thicker, juicier, and meatier than your normal burger. They are best eaten when served for that freshly cooked goodness. They are priced very reasonably too. Mushroom Loco (P147, pictured above) consists of grilled burger, lettuce, Quezoloco, and big button mushroom slices in burgundy sauce. It's big and it's filling, like all their other burgers are.

Big Better Burgers SM CubaoTheir biggest and most pricey burger is Double Dare with Cheese (pictured above, P178). Two big patties, lettuce, cheese, and dill onion mayo make up this big burger. I had a hard time finishing a single-patty burger already because it's so filling, so this is just the thing to order when you're positively starving to death hehe... :p

Big Better Burgers SM CubaoMy hubby in the meantime decided to go for the Hahalapeno Burger (P147, pictured above). Jalapeno salsa, cheese, lettuce, and ketchup adorn this 1/3 lb. patty. It's quite spicy but I actually liked it. :D

Big Better Burgers serve more than just burgers and fries though, they also have rice meals (which also feature their delectable burger patties) and pasta dishes. The SM Cubao branch is brightly lit and cheery, albeit it's quite small so it can get a bit cramped if a lot of people are dining in. They deliver within the Timog (call 332-1827) and Cubao (call 709-3021) areas though.

The pretty and powerful Sony VAIO 2010 models

I attended an intimate gathering hosted by Sony Philippines last June 9, 2010. We got acquainted with the newest members of the Sony VAIO family over a lovely dinner (dinner details and food shots to be posted separately).

Sony VAIOYou've got to admit, the Sony VAIO is the epitome of style where computers are concerned. From the logo to the sleek outer shell and keyboard set-up, it just screams style, style, and more style. If it were a person it would be a supermodel.

Sony VAIO PI was particularly enamored with the Sony VAIO P, a cute and tiny little powerhouse with 1.86 GHz of processing power and 2GBs of RAM.

Sony VAIO PYou can even read an e-book on the Sony VAIO P. The display automatically adjusts depending on how you hold it or position it.

Sony VAIO PThe Sony VAIO P actually resembles a ladies' purse when closed. It's so thin and portable it can easily fit in your bag or jacket pocket. It also has 2 USB ports on its tiny frame. The price you have to pay for all this? The Sony VPCP115KG/D will set you back P59,999.

Sony VAIO JAnother interesting addition to Sony's VAIO roster is the Sony VAIO J. It's a desktop computer which features a Bravia-eque Full HD 1920x1080 pixel touch screen monitor, a wireless keyboard, and a wireless mouse. All the computer components are built into that monitor. It boasts of an Intel Core 2.4 GHz processor with turbo boost up to 2.93 GHz plus 4GBs of memory. Hard drive space is at 500GBs. All this power can be yours for P79,999.

Sony VAIO EAnother surprise unveiled that night was the Sony VAIO E (pictured above). What's so special about this plain matte black laptop? It's Sony's most affordable laptop ever. It's equipped with a 1.86g GHz Intel Processor, 2GBs of RAM, 320 GBS of HD space, and a DVD-RW drive. It's a full laptop, not a netbook. The only downside is it's big, with a monitor size of 14". The Sony VAIO E retails for P39,999.

I can't wait to give these models a test run. :)

Hapontukin ka ba? Mag-Enervon na!

What is Hapontukin?

In tagalog, Hapon is the word for afternoon while antukin means sleepyhead. Hapon + Antukin = Hapontukin. This is the term Enervon came up with to refer to a person who gets sleepy in the afternoon.

I am Hapontukin!Sadly, I have to admit I am one of them. Some afternoons I just want to sleep on my table in the office, and there are times I actually do -- only to be awakened by a ringing phone or something to that effect.

I attended Enervon's Hapontukin Campaign launch last June 15, 2010. The energetic TV, radio, and online personality Ramon Bautista leads the HWAT or Hapon Wake-Up Action Team. The HWAT raids offices during afternoons, waking up sleepy employees by teaching them anti-Hapontukin exercises which they can do right where they're standing or sitting.

Anti-Hapontukin poster boy Ramon BautistaTo demonstrate, Ramon Bautista went around the function room and zeroed in on the most hapontukin guests he could find. He led them to the stage area and had them do some of the anti-Hapontukin exercises that he and the HWAT have been teaching people.

Water Cooler HurdleThey even had some guests do the Water Cooler Hurdle on-the-spot on stage! The anti-Hapontukin exercises Ramon Bautista and the HWAT advocate aren't just for TV and video, they're for you to do when you're sleepy. I guarantee you'll feel wide awake after a hurdle or two.

Animetric with Ramon BautistaWith Ramon Bautista and the HWAT around, I doubt you'd get a Hapontukin attack.

Enervon with Steadi-Energy Complex
According to Enervon's brand manager Jals Tiu, Hapontukin is a clear sign of the need for energy. Enervon, with its Steadi-Energy Complex, helps provide lasting energy throughout the day. I actually brought an Enervon tablet with me to the office this morning and took it with a glass of water. Suffice to say I haven't felt sleepy since! :D

Do you have an Anti-Hapontukin exercise you'd like to share? If you do, it can actually win you a camera phone or an iPhone! It's easy as 1-2-3:
  1. Invent a unique anti-Hapontukin exercise and shoot a video.
  2. Upload it on the internet.
  3. Register the video via
Qualified videos will be uploaded to Hapontukin's Facebook Fan Page and the video with the most likes for the week will win a cool camera phone. To make it even more exciting, FB fans who like the uploaded videos also get a chance to win cool camera phones via an electronic raffle!
Check out Enervon's Anti-Hapontukin Online Promo at for the full contest mechanics!
