Gigi's Custaroons come in a beautiful brightly colored box with a touch of retro styling. It was almost too pretty to open so it's really perfect for gift-giving.
Gigi's Custaroons come in boxes of 4, 6, 12, and 24 pieces. The pricing goes something like this:- Box of 4: P 150.00
- Box of 6: P 170.00
- Box of 12: P 300.00
- Box of 24: P 550.00
A custaroon is like a cross between custard and macaroons, you know, those tiny chewy pastries made of coconut.
Imagine this: Creamy yet firm custard peppered with crunchy, buttery bits of coconut you chew on when eating macaroons. It's sooo good. I swear I'm so addicted. If I didn't have any self-control I could have finished the whole box. Gigi Gaerlan is a genius for coming up with something like this. Gigi's Custaroons come in two variants: Original and Cheese. The cheese custaroons just have a bit of tangy cheesy taste. They also cost a bit more. Good thing I prefer the original. :)
But the fun's not over yet. There's also Poppers by Gigi's Custaroons. They come in this cute container which comes across like a small (but fashionable) pint of ice cream.
Poppers are bite-sized custaroon balls covered with a premium chocolate powder coating only Gigi can concoct. They come in Original, Green Tea, Cheese, and Coffee flavors. A tub containing 22 pieces in assorted flavors costs P200. They're divine. My hubby, who's not fond of desserts, couldn't stop popping them into his mouth. I think that's why they're called Poppers. :pThis is the Green Tea Popper. Like Forrest Gump says, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. There's no indication of the flavor from the outside as they all look the same.
This is the Original Custaroon Popper. All the flavors are yummy but I think I like this one best. :)Gigi's Custaroons and Poppers are hands down the best and most unique desserts I've had in a while. You really have to taste to believe. Visit Gigi's Custaroons on Facebook for ordering info -- you know you want some! I know I do. :p
