I ordered their bestseller, Funtea Finest Milk Tea (P70, pictured above left). Their milk teas come with pearls. Hubby opted for their big-sized Mint Milk Tea (P80, pictured above right). Yeah they look the same. Being used to Serenitea, I was disappointed at not having the option to adjust the sugar level. The good news is, Funtea Finest Milk Tea is not too sweet and is actually okay to have in its original blend. Hubby commented that his Mint Milk Tea was good too.
Then I ordered Funtea Wedges (P35 for 2 triangles, P60 for 4 triangles). They are basically French Toast filled with ham and cheese. One of the wedges was burnt, which of course irked me. When I told the server it was burnt she dismissed me and said "Ganyan talaga" ("That's the way it really is"). But the clincher was not even the charred sides. When I bit into it there was a sour after-smell/after-taste which led me to believe that it was spoiled. We stopped eating and set it aside. At the time, the owner had mysteriously appeared behind the counter and noticed that we weren't eating the wedges. She approached us and asked what was wrong. We told her and she immediately offered to replace the wedges with another dish.
The replacement dish she gave us was the Japanese Corn (P45 for 5 pieces, pictured above), roasted and seasoned with pepper. Tasty, albeit the corn cob pieces are on the small side. Serenitea's corn cobs are much bigger and more satisfying for a few pesos more.
We also had Potatojoes (P45, pictured above). They're kind of like Shakey's famous mojos -- sliced, seasoned, and fried to a crisp. We all liked the Potatojoes. The kids couldn't stop eating them. It's also available in a sweet potato version, aptly named Sweet Potatojoes. No idea what that's like though... :)
Since we don't approve of serving our kids caffeinated drinks (including teas), we told them to choose from Funtea's flavored milk menu. Our son picked Strawberry Milk (P80, pictured above left) while our daughter went for Chocolate Milk (P80, pictured above right). Both agreed the milk tasted great, which was further evidenced by their empty glasses by the time we left. Unlike the milk teas, the flavored milks do not come with pearls, you will have to pay extra if you want some.Funtea was only about a month old when we visited, and they're continuously adding items to their menu. Ordering took a great deal of time as the cashier was still not very familiar with the prices and the products. Hopefully this will improve as time goes by.
UPDATE: My cousin just told me you can now control the sweetness level at Funtea. I'll try to go back myself and tell you about it. :)
