BonChon Chicken at Ayala Triangle Gardens!

We found our way to the newly opened BonChon Chicken at Ayala Triangle Gardens yesterday. It was a holiday and so driving through Makati City was a breeze.

Soy Garlic Chicken Chops at Bon Chon Chicken Ayala TriangleWe decided to have Chicken Chops (P185 for 4 pieces). There are two flavor variants to choose from for all the chicken you can order: Soy Garlic or Hot & Spicy. Our Chicken Chop came in Soy Garlic. I am not fond of poultry in general but wow, the chicken chop was incredibly crunchy outside and tender inside. It's best eaten hot just as it's laid out in front of you. The Soy Garlic glaze is salty-sweet, and well... good.

Hot & Spicy Drumstick at Bon Chon Chicken Ayala TriangleWe also ordered Drumstick (P185 for 3 pieces). This time, we opted for Hot & Spicy. It was very tasty and I liked it. Like the Chicken Chops, the it was very crispy outside and tender inside. It's too spicy for kids though. My 9-year old son took one bite and kept on drinking water afterwards. He settled for the Soy Garlic Chicken Chops instead. You can order steamed rice for P15 per cup.

French Fries at Bon Chon Chicken Ayala TriangleAside from rice, you can order side items like French Fries (P45, pictured above), Kimchi Coleslaw, Pickled Radish, Popcorn Chicken, and Calamari.

Bulgogi Rice Box at Bonchon Chicken Ayala TriangleBulgogi at Bonchon Chicken Ayala TriangleThe only other non-chicken menu item apart from the salads and side dishes is the Bulgogi beef. I had a Bulgogi Rice Box (P125, pictured above). That's one cup of steamed rice plus beef on the side. It wasn't anything special, in fact it wasn't good. My daughter didn't like it too. It's one of Bonchon Chicken's Value Meals and it comes with a regular softdrink. Chicken value meals are also available but the chicken comes only in Soy Garlic by default should you opt for them.

Although the chicken was really really good, the service left something else to be desired. When we first started ordering there weren't too many people in the place but somehow they got most of our orders wrong. Then it took forever to correct the mistakes. Rice was served after more than 30 minutes of waiting well after all the chicken dishes came out. I've got to hand it to BonChon Chicken though, the chicken retained its crunch even after sitting for quite a while waiting for the rice.

Do keep in mind that BonChon Chicken at Ayala Triangle Gardens is still in its soft opening phase so there are a lot of factors that could've caused the lousy service. As a result of our botched orders, we left feeling unsatisfied, so much so that we ate at another restaurant. We ended up sharing whatever arrived on our table so no one really had a full meal. I hope they shape up eventually because they really do serve darned good chicken.

Parking is not a problem since there's ample basement parking at the Ayala Triangle. Of course, slots could get scarce during weekdays when there's work.
