Okay, if there's something my hubby can't resist, it's a designer sale. So when he heard of the SSI (Store Specialists Inc.) - Citibank sale happening from October 21 to 24, 2010 at the PICC Forum Tent 3 he was clearly stoked.
Since we had to take care of some business first, we weren't there when the doors first opened. As a result, we ended up parking really far away from the tent. It was pure pandemonium, there were people everywhere. Brands like Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, Lacoste, Gap, Zara, Prada, Banana Republic, Hugo Boss, DKNY Jeans, etc. all had shelves, tables, and racks of bags, shoes, and clothes on display which would disappear in the blink of an eye.
Lines to the cashier were long. It'll take you at least an hour to finally get to pay up, maybe more if you go later.
I was only able to purchase a single item, and it was from Beauty Bar. I bought Modelco Lash Wand, a heated eyelash curler. It's like a little curling iron for your eyelashes. I was mulling over it when I bumped into my friend Chie who's from Beauty Bar. She told me that this is a good alternative to a traditional eyelash curler because it doesn't put stress on your lashes.
You know what? I do dislike using the traditional eyelash curler, even if I have a Shu Uemura one which everyone practically raves over. It's inevitable to occasionally lose an eyelash or two when using it and I can't afford that at this age!The best part is, I got this for 65% off... from P1650 marked down to P481.50! There were only about five units displayed so I don't know if there's any left for tomorrow.
Other finds at the SSI Super Sale:
- Laura Mercier, Stila, and Nars cosmetics at 30% off
- Zara shawls for less than P500
- Aerosoles shoes for half the price
- Denman hairbrushes at 25% off
- Stride Ride shoes for kids (wasn't able to check the discount)
- Samsonite luggages
There's also a raffle conducted every hour where you can win gifts from SSI. When I was there they raffled off a LeSportsac bag.
You can also go even if you don't have a Citibank card but I think you'll have to apply for one.
There's a bit of bad news though, the salespeople told me they won't be replenishing the stocks on sale. Everything that was displayed today is all there is, and I saw for myself how quickly the Lacoste section got wiped out. There were about 7 or 8 Gucci bags initially displayed, by the time we left there were only 3 left.
UPDATE: My friend went back on the second day (Friday, Oct 22) and told me that despite earlier statements about not replenishing stocks, the sale items had been re-stocked so there were more stuff to buy.
My hubby was able to buy a pair of Hugo Boss pants which had been marked down 80% from over P10k to a little over P2k.
Contrary to the information circulating that they open at 11am, doors actually open at 10:30am. There are food stalls by Red Kimono and Yellow Cab Pizza right outside the entrance in case you get hungry but don't want to leave.
