We started off with the complimentary bread basket. Different kinds of bread slices were served warm. We each had a small cube of butter for spreading.
For the appetizer, we had Caesar's Salad with Parmesan Shavings and Parma Ham. They don't have this on the menu as it's part of a pre-ordered set dinner. I liked that the salad was light on the dressing. It was complemented perfectly by the saltiness of the Parma Ham.
For dessert we were all served Fresh Mango Milles-feuilles with Rum Cream and Sauce. A Milles-feuilles is a French creation wherein layers of puff pastry are filled with cream or custard in between. This one had a lot of fresh sweet mango slices to accompany the cream. It was very quaint, and it goes perfectly with cup of hot brewed coffee which is included with the set.
I estimate that this kind of set dinner at Je Suis Gourmand would cost at least P1,000+ per head. In general I liked the cozy, intimate atmosphere. It'd make a great date place for sure.
