We started off with the complimentary bread basket. Different kinds of bread slices were served warm. We each had a small cube of butter for spreading.
For the appetizer, we had Caesar's Salad with Parmesan Shavings and Parma Ham. They don't have this on the menu as it's part of a pre-ordered set dinner. I liked that the salad was light on the dressing. It was complemented perfectly by the saltiness of the Parma Ham.For the main course, we were given three options. I chose the Seared US Beef Flank with Roasted Shallots Sauce, Fries, and Salad. I had it well done. It came out juicy and tender, I especially loved the caramelized onions which topped it. The side salad had almost no dressing (maybe they forgot?) so I pretty much didn't care for it. The closest thing the menu has to this dish is probably the Grilled Marinated US Flank Steak which is priced at P590.
For dessert we were all served Fresh Mango Milles-feuilles with Rum Cream and Sauce. A Milles-feuilles is a French creation wherein layers of puff pastry are filled with cream or custard in between. This one had a lot of fresh sweet mango slices to accompany the cream. It was very quaint, and it goes perfectly with cup of hot brewed coffee which is included with the set. I estimate that this kind of set dinner at Je Suis Gourmand would cost at least P1,000+ per head. In general I liked the cozy, intimate atmosphere. It'd make a great date place for sure.
