Write in your computer with Intellipen!

Last May 27, 2010 I attended Intellipen's Philippine Press Launch at Cafe 1771 in El Pueblo.

Intellipen Philippines Press LaunchIntellipen is a cool new gadget which lets whatever you write on paper transfer to your computer instantly.

Trying out the IntellipenYou attach a sensor on top of the paper, which serves as your writing surface. As long as your pen is within range of the sensor, whatever you write on the paper appears on your computer screen -- it's that easy! I tried my hand at it and drew Elmo of Sesame Street's face.

Writing into the computer with Intellipen...and voila! My Elmo appeared on the computer screen!

Two models were demonstrated that day, a wired and a wireless model which costs P4,850 and P5,999 respectively. Pretty pricey for a pen, but then it can also be used as a mouse and a stylus. It's battery operated, and with heavy usage the power will last for several weeks.

Intellipen PentasticThe wireless model, Intellipen Pentastic, has a sensor that doubles as a 1GB flash drive which can easily accommodate a thousand pages of notes. It can also convert handwriting to text in a flash -- in several languages!

While I don't see myself getting one any time soon, it could be worth your while if you're in a career that requires you to transcribe all the time. Intellipen can be purchased at Office Warehouse and Powerbooks.
