Figaro a la carte and all-day breakfast!

I love Filipino style breakfast. I find the combination of garlic rice, fried egg, and savory meat or fish just perfect in terms of taste and satiety value.

I was among those invited by Figaro last June 2, 2010 to sample their latest menu offerings which included Figaro ala carte, a series of mix and match pasta dishes, and Figaro All-Day Breakfast which is comprised of three rice meals that best embody the Pinoy breakfast. I'll jump right into the all-day breakfast fare now since it's about 9am as I type. :p

For Figaro's All-Day Breakfast, there are three choices: Pork Longganisa (sausage), Classic Corned Beef, and Gourmet Crispy Tuyo (salted fish). Each variant is served with garlic rice, fried egg, and tomato-cucumber salsa + an 8 oz. cup of brewed coffee. They're all priced at P175 each.

Gourmet Crispy Tuyo all-day breakfast at FigaroI liked the Gourmet Crispy Tuyo best. The Tuyo possesses a very strong flavor which goes very well with the small container of vinegar it's served with. It's hassle-free too since the tuyo is already broken down in pieces. Of course if you're like my hubby who hates the smell of vinegar, dried fish, and the like, you're better off with Pork Longganisa.

Pork Longganisa all-day breakfast at FigaroPork Longganisa is my second runner-up, and is actually the favorite of my other companions. You get 3 big pieces of sweet and juicy Filipino-style sausage with this dish. I didn't really care for the Classic Corned Beef (not pictured here) since it wasn't really anything special and I think I can easily make it at home.

Brewed coffee at FigaroI simply adored Figaro's brewed coffee which comes with each breakfast meal. Just add the default one packet of sugar and one packet of creamer and you're good to go. It's perfect! Very smooth, not too bitter, not too sweet... needless to say I finished my cup easily.

And now we move on to Figaro a la carte...

The Figaro a la carte menu features four pasta-based dishes served either with chicken or fish. You get to choose from Dory Provencal (P199), Tuscan Chicken (P199), Chicken ala Kiev (P229), or Breaded Dory Fillet (P229) and then match it with the Figaro pasta you prefer. There's Arrabiata, Carbonara, Pesto, Classic Chorizo, and Al Tonno. Each meal is also served with your choice of 12 oz. Iced Tea or 12 oz. Iced Coffee.

Breaded Dory Fillet at FigaroBreaded Dory Fillet (P229, pictured above) served with Classic Chorizo pasta. Apart from the fish, there are also seasoned fried potato wedges that go with this dish. The chorizo pasta is very tasty. :D

Tuscan Chicken at FigaroTuscan Chicken (P199, pictured above) served with Pasta Al Tonno, which is pasta with tuna and olives. It comes with a side salad too. I like the clean, healthy feeling I get from this dish -- it's yummy and filling too! :)

Iced Tea at FigaroI opted for Figaro's Iced Tea as I sampled the a la carte dishes. It's simply the best. It's brewed and infused with calamansi juice, plus it's not overly sweet -- very refreshing and thirst-quenching! :D

All-Day Breakfast and Figaro a la carte are available at all Figaro branches. Check out http://www.figarocoffee.com for the complete list of stores.
