Surprise, surprise. I was first greeted by a predominantly black collection which bordered on gothic.
...and then by their latest Collar-Ups Collection, collared shirts wherein the collars are worn up instead of down flat by your shoulder blades. Collar-Ups have actually been around for a while, specifically since the advent of the tennis shirt. Collars were meant to be worn up to help protect the neck area from sunburn. These days though, upturned collars are more of a fashion statement rather than a safety feature.
I consider these new collections a rebirth for BUM. Lean and lithe models strutted their stuff on the catwalk. The styles reminded me a bit of Japanese street fashion. Some of the outfits look like what my Pinky St. dolls would wear (Pinky St. are tiny Japanese collectible dolls which can change hairstyles and outfits).
Apparently, teens and college kids make up the main target market of BUM. These clothes are designed to be wearable to school from day to day.
There are more general-looking pieces in the collection though, which I think would be suitable for people in their 20's and 30's. These new tops retail for about P500+ each. What do you think of BUM's new collections? BUM is available in leading department stores nationwide.
