A light lunch at Kitchen's Best Home Patisserie
Hubby and I stumbled upon this quaint little café near the end of Pasong Tamo Extension one weekend. It had very simple exteriors with a sign that said "Kitchen's Best Home Patisserie". We saw it while looking for the Suzuki showroom.
Anyhow it was right about lunch time so we decided to give it a try. It isn't often that we'd scour Pasong Tamo Extension for some place to eat so we thought we might as well pick the most um, obscure establishment. Upon the waiter's recommendation hubby ordered the Mediterranean Beef (P245, pictured above). The menu described it as flavorful strips of sirloin beef secretly marinated in herbs and spices. We were disappointed. There wasn't really anything special about the marinade, in fact Chowking's Beef Tapa tastes better than this and it's less than 1/3 the price. I say they'd better forget the secret and come up with something else.
Ah but hubby and I couldn't give up just yet. We had to find out why there were so many people crammed into this little hole-in-the-wall. We ordered a slice of Banana Toffee Pie (P85) for dessert. Oreo cookie crust, banana slices, chocolate toffee, whipped cream, and a bit of caramel make up this "award-winning" pie. It was heavenly. Even hubby who's generally not fond of dessert took a few bites off this yummy creation. Maybe they should concentrate on cakes and pastries instead.
