It's Time to take charge with Sun Life Financial!

Sun Life Financial held its first ever blogger event entitled Blog Time! last February 27, 2010 at the Eastwood Mall. The event aimed to impart Sun Life's advocacy on financial responsibility to Filipino bloggers so they can help spread the word online.

It's Time advocates Pia Magalona (pictured above left) and Bam Aquino (pictured above right) each gave a brief talk -- Pia on life insurance and Bam on saving and investing.

"Talking about life insurance isn't depressing, it's just being practical," says Pia. "It's all about being prepared," she adds. Coincidentally, tomorrow March 6, 2010 marks the first death anniversary of Pia's husband, the renowned musician and master rapper Francis M. Pia also shared how she and Francis had envisioned growing old together before he was diagnosed with cancer. I admire her strength as she was able to pick up the pieces and move on along with her children.

Meanwhile, Bam was all about saving and investing. "Very few Filipinos have financial goals," states Bam. "Majority spend more than they earn," he further expounds. "Save a little every time and you'll have enough to invest. Every month consider your savings a cost that you put away," advises Bam. More than what Bam was discussing, I was amazed at how he was the splitting image of his uncle former senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino. I swear he looks more like Ninoy compared to Noynoy himself.

Life insurance, savings, and investments are just a few of the things we have to seriously consider when taking charge of our finances. How responsible we are will dictate how we fare when the unexpected occurs. It may sound clichéd but it's always best to be prepared.
