The Mermaids at Manila Ocean Park

Although a tour of Manila Ocean Park isn't really new to us, their limited engagement Mermaid Show is. Thus when Skycable Fun Club gave out free evening tour tickets to its members, I was very quick to avail of them. Most children are very much interested in mythical creatures like mermaids, and so I believed my kids would really enjoy Manila Ocean Park's The Mermaids.

The Mermaids at Manila Ocean ParkThe Mermaids show is a 30-minute musical feature where four lithe and lovely mermaids in colorful sea garb swim, spin, and shimmy with all the sea creatures in the aquarium. It's sort of like synchronized swimming and underwater ballet combined. My kids were awed with the whole spectacle, which was made even more fascinating by the fact that there were big sharks and stingrays swimming around during the performance.

After the show, the smiling mermaids would dive and pose for pictures with the eager spectators. I commend these girls for being really professional the whole time.

Here's a short video clip I shot to give you an idea:

If you've already toured Manila Ocean Park and just want to go there and see The Mermaids, you can avail of The Mermaids show tickets for P150 each. The normal Manila Ocean Park admission fee is P400, this type of ticket allows you to tour the whole facility AND watch The Mermaids. The Mermaids' original run was supposed to be from July 24 to August 30, 2009 only but Manila Ocean Park has extended it indefinitely due to popular demand. For show schedules, call Manila Ocean Park at 567-7777.
