April 25, 2009 -- It was my first time to attend a Belle De Jour event. I was among the first 50 to submit my photo and as a result I bagged an official invite. I got my confirmation email while I was on our family vacation in Japan and I RSVP'd right away.Belle De Jour Rendezvous: Sexy, Fabulous Summer! was held at the 2nd floor of Crossings Dept. Store in Shangrila Plaza Mall. I was among the first to arrive for which I bagged an early bird prize -- a 60ml bottle of Jeanne Arthes Paris Love Generation Blue perfume. I was seated right under this big chandelier and had a great view of the guest speakers and projector screen.
There were four talks in all -- fashion stylist Patricia Coronado (above, right) taught us about finding our personal style, Maybelline make-up artist Harold Santos (above, left) shared the basics of do-it-yourself make-up, Certified Pilates instructor Maureen Villao showed us how to find our happy weight and keep fit, while Entrepremoms Monique Eleazar-Manzano and Denise Gonzales gave us some tips and advice on how to start our own business. We were allowed to ask questions after each segment.A few words of wisdom from the speakers:
Patricia Coronado - When all does not go well in fashion, alter. Fit is the most important element in fashion.
Harold Santos - Never, ever leave the house without sunscreen even if you plan on staying indoors the entire time. This will let you look younger a lot longer.
Maureen Villao - Do not set unrealistic goals. Deprivation is not the key to fitness.
Monique Eleazar-Manzano and Denise Gonzales - In order to sell a product, you have to believe in it.
A light merienda was served during the break. There were also a lot of raffle prizes and games. In fact, prizes were so abundant that every single attendee's name was drawn in the raffle. My raffle prize was a P500 GC from Cupcakes by Sonja. I also won a Freeway gift pack for being one of the first ten to complete the Human Bingo game, a Folded and Hung gift pack for answering a trivia question, and a GC for a pair of Havaianas for giving one of the best three answers to the question "Why are you original?".
After the talks and the games, the program officially ended and loot bags were distributed. Each attendee got a pair of Fly shades, a Mikaela card (entitles you to a free hair cut and treatment on your birthday), an accessory from Cinderella, a GC for a free Pilates session, a Chocolate Clothing Co. notepad, the latest issue of 10.0 magazine which contained a load of freebie coupons (ex: free yogurt from FIC), and a choice between a Garnier gift pack containing a cleanser and moisturizer or a Charles & Keith belt. I chose Garnier.
I totally loved my first BDJ event. I learned a lot, met some nice new friends, and took home a lot of fabulous prizes! I'm so looking forward to the next one...Like this post? Subscribe to this blog by clicking HERE.
